A hollow shell of the building it once was before the depression hit Gotham. It was left with different packages still collecting dust inside. It does have an extensive underground section though.

"Ah home sweet home." The Clown said as he entered. "Honey did you miss me?" He asked walking to the graffiti of the naked woman on the wall. "What!?! Those rascals, coming in here uninvited. Don't worry dear. I'll teach them to mind their business. Hahahahahahah." The tall man doubled over with laughter for a bit. His body trembling as the laughter overcame him. "Oh dear, you have such a bad mind. What will people think hearing you talk like that." Without wasting another moment the Joker walked to an open elevator. "Going down, Jeeves." He said bumping a mannequin into the button. The dilapidated elevator seemed to freefall to the lowest basement, only stopping just in time. The mannequin's body shook and fell to the floor, it's head rolling away. "Oh pull yourself together, man." Walking to the side of the wall he pulled a large switch, slowly the lights turned on, flickering slightly. One popped completely causing the bulb to shatter. Small pieces of glass fell to the floor. The Joker ignored it, walking over the pieces that cut into the soles of his feet. Staring intently at the rack before him, the Joker took off a purple fadora and placed it on his head. "Now...I can do business."

Late in the evening, Joker's ears informed him there were vistors wandering outside his home.
"So like the Green Goblin pushes Mary Jane off the bridge and Spider-Man's like 'Whoah, that's my girl' so he swings down and catches her and Gobby dies and that's the end."
"Whoah... that's so epic."
"Yeah, man... Willem Defoe has such a great psycho vibe..."
"Did you hear about them switching Spidey for a new actor?"
"Really? Who?"
"Uhm... that guy who did Brokeback Mountain."
"Heath Ledger?"
"Hell no, Heath Ledger's nothing but a pretty boy! No damn way they're going to put him in a comic book film!"

There were chemicals spread across the floor. The were in strange patterns that seemed to only make sense to the one pouring the junk. The Joker slowly stopped pouring to listen to the conversation. Children...all clowns love children. Cleaning himself off the clown went to great his audience. "Hello children."

"Dude... you got some bad tan there." Said the one who had clearly been smoking pot.
The other one was quite sober. Alas, he didn't watch the news regularly... "Dude, it's a clown. Hey man, that's one funky outfit you got there!"
They were both perhaps only a little more than 12, 13 at the outside.

Joker smiled as the little boy recognized his outfit. His hat, his coat, his clothes, his little flower on his chest, pointing toward the little boys. A throbbing was going at the back of the Joker's head, low and consistant. "It's my custume for my work. I'm one of the clowns for the carnival." The pounding was getting louder. "I'm working on one of my acts right now actually, and was wondering if you'd like to watch. You never know what's funny until you get a live audience you know."

They both looked at each other before deciding there was nothing wrong with a little free show.

"Come on in boys. But I'm warning you don't touch anything." The Joker led the two into a seperate room. Inside were several boxes, one opened. Inside were several large balloons and in the corner was a large helium tank. "Here have a seat and I'll start the show." The clown started with a few card tricks, spinning them around in the air and catching them, shuffling them behind his back. He made a balloon animal using the helium tank and passed it to the stoner. "Now don't pop that boy."

The Joker started to laugh as the boy finally broke the balloon. The green gas spread through the room. Soon both the boys were coughing and laughing. Bending over, clutching their stomachs and their smile spreading further and further on their small faces. It was beautiful. The throbbing blazed now and the Clown realized he was laughing along with the boys. It was exstacy, it was holy. Too soon it was over, the pair slumped to the floor, their smiles etched permanently onto their faces. "It's time this town remembered who they're dealing with." The Joker smiled to the pair. "You didn't even recognize the greatest clown of all time. I can fix that." Grabbing the two bodies the Joker carried them away.

When the showman returned to the stage, someone had taken a white baloon and arranged it into the shape of a rabbit. Nearby there was a caterpillar, an alligator, and a hammer. The old baloons were popped.
Sitting on the edge of the stage, an oddly dressed man sat with his legs dangling like a school boy. His oversized white coat and massive grey hat made him a perfect model for any children's book.
In a highpitch singing voice, he seemed to give commentary on the previous scene.
"Speak roughly to your little boy, And beat him when he sneezes: He only does it to annoy, Because he knows it teases. I speak severely to my boy, I beat him when he sneezes; For he can then throughly enjoy The pepper when he pleases! "

The Joker looked at the little man before him. His smile growing wider on his face. "Why Hatty, what a pleasant surprise." The Joker folded his arms behind his back and walked over to the little man, bending low so their faces were almost equal height. "You're just the person I wanted to see. The only one almost as crazy as I am."

"Well! I've often seen a cat without a grin," said the little man as he looked at him with cold, calculating eyes that never matched the strange man's riddles and bizarre quotes. "but a grin without a cat! It's the most curious thing I ever saw in all my life!"
He stood up and walked about on stage for a moment before returning to the Joker. "'Where shall I begin, please your Majesty?' 'Begin at the beginning,' the King said gravely, 'and go on till you come to the end: then stop.'"

"But the middle is a more interesting place, Hatty." The Joker cackled. "It is my own personal Wonderland, Batman at my feet and bodies scattered all around. But I need a little help from a nice little chip you have."

"Curiouser and curiouser..." murmured the Hatter. He gestured for him to continue.

The Joker grin widens as he leans even further toward the man and whispers to him his plan.
