As the Joker explained his latest catastrophe, there would be occasional interruptions with poetry, yet the Joker never lost track of what the Hatter was saying. It seemed madness was it's own language... bad jokes and obscure quotes, hate-filled eyes meeting empty, emotionless ones, the dialogue seemed more like a bad comedy routine than real conversation. Once it was over, the being once known as Jervis Tetch bowed his head, tilted his hat, and left, whispering, "Parting is all we know of heaven and all we need to know of hell."

"That's why I like you Hatty, you make sense." the Joker laughed seeing the little man out. After the Mad Hatter left his base the Joker's eyes stared intensly at the stage the man had sat. "How did he get in? I should have noticed. My old home must have worn down my edge." He stared for some time at the stage, unmoving. An hour ticked by, then another. Finally the Joker through his head back and laughed. "That was good Hatty, very good."

Suddenly his eyes flicker open. His grin grows and his laughter breaks from his lips. Without wasting another moment he goes back to mixing his chemicals.
