Michael stared at the empty computer screen in front of him. He was trying to put together a article about that would make the editor proud that he assigned him the new crime reporter job. But no words came.
He took a toothpick out of his pocket, unwrapped it and placed it in the usual place, the left side of his mouth. There he played with it, moving it from side to side with his tounge. He usually did so, when he was annoyed and wanted to think.

His thoughts was disturbed when he heard Jack's voice cut the air. He sighed, pushed the button on the monitor, and walked towards the editor's office.

Michael grabbed his coat that hanged over his chair as he walked past his desk on the way out.

Michael sat down in his chair to come up with his next move. He took his usual toothpick and started moving it, while he stared at the photograph in his hand. He sat there a few minutes before he decided to head down to the police station to see if they had found out something since yesterday. He rose and gathered his coat and left the building.
